I understand that billionaires are sociopaths, so I’m not surprised that they’re burning money on joy rides to space while the word burns. What I don’t understand is why we let them.

Billionaires jetting into space for fossil-fuelled joyrides while the planet literally burns is really not a good look.

Billionaires racing to space is cool and all, but maybe they could also pay taxes
— Angry Staffer (@Angry_Staffer) July 11, 2021
Billionaires have decided a circle jerk in space is better than ending poverty.

We need to start taxing outer space.

Yes, Amazon workers did pay for this - with lower wages, union busting, a frenzied and inhumane workplace, and delivery drivers not having health insurance during a pandemic.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 20, 2021
And Amazon customers are paying for it with Amazon abusing their market power to hurt small business. https://t.co/7qMgpe8u0M
―AOC(米民主党議員)
Am I supposed to be impressed that a billionaire went to space while he’s paid zero in federal income taxes some years and the workers at his company struggle to afford their medical bills, rent, and food for their kids? Nope. It’s time to invest in working people here on Earth. pic.twitter.com/F1NVBPu6TJ
— Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) July 21, 2021
Listen, I’m all for space exploration and it must have been an amazing view.
— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) July 21, 2021
But maybe – and I’m just spitballing here – if Amazon and other companies paid their fair share in taxes, we could lift all kids — if not into space — at least out of poverty.
Sincerely,
Earthlings
